Generic AI tools hallucinate or strip the regulatory context that makes data defensible. We spoke with maintenance engineers, compliance officers, lease return managers, and MRO operations leads across Hamburg, Singapore, and Dubai. We expected the core problem to be speed. It wasn't. Engineers didn't want a faster search — they wanted an answer they could sign off on: exact manual, exact revision, exact paragraph, chain intact. A fast answer without provenance was worse than no answer, because it created the illusion of work done.
